Short Bobbito Film Featuring Roc Raida

Classic short film on Bobbito, not sure when it was made, but I just found it on Youtube the other day. Love the black and white - can't tell if it's really shot on 8mm or if it's just an effect, but either way, it's dope. Classic footage of Bob and especially some vintage Roc Raida (RIP). Peep it.

The 90s were classic.

Custodian of Records "The Sampler Platter"

"The Sampler Platter" by Custodian of Records

Original cuts and remixes from the Custodian himself. Some real beat diggin classic production. Free for cats who still rock baggy jeans and got their knuckles in a dirty crate. H/T grandgood.com

Remembering Carlos Alvarez (RIP)

Carlos Alvarez - DJ, activist, friend - passed away a year ago this last weekend. He is sorely missed. I dedicated a mixtape to him a year ago, and wrote some notes about how I knew him.

This Ray Charles song below will always remind me of Carlos. We spent many late nights doing volunteer work and listening to it and other similar tunes.

Monthly Mixtapes: August 2010 "Love on 45"

August 2010: Love on 45
DJ Ian Head

Can't believe it's already August, but here we are. As we close out the summer months, I wanted to do two things - keep the music soulful and upbeat, and find a way to use all these crunchy 45s I've been diggin up the past few months. So here it is - a few love songs on 45, courtesy of a few hours in the crates. A mix of recent finds and some of my favorites. For the sample heads, there's a couple treats in here, but mostly it's just great songs rather than fat breaks.

Shout out to everyone who continues to support! Lots of mixes and treats planned for the fall.

Oddisee West Coast Beats

Oddisee: West Coast Beats

I enjoy all of Oddisee's stuff, but this is my favorite free release of his in awhile. Some incredible joints on here. Couple will stay on loop for awhile. One of the best producers in the game right now.

Fresher Than Your Father Podcast

Fresher Than Your Father Podcast: Dave & Ian Talkin Ish

So after listening to too many sportstalk  podcasts these past few months, Dave (aka Verbal Math of Dollabin) and I decided "We can do this shit ourselves!" I mean, Bill Simmons gets away with talking about whatever he wants. So, I introduce the Fresher Than Your Father podcast. We're talkin all kinds of shit - donuts, basketball, politics and of course, music. Mostly, just ramblin off the top of our heads.

The fact is, Bill Simmons actually knows a grip about basketball, football, movies and other cool stuff. Plus, he has famous people come on his show. I don't even know if anyone would ever even want to come on our show. But if you're bored and need the closest thing to a new Dollabin record, check us out. We're just getting started.
